Richard RR One reviewer said Sad Day's melodies sounded like they came straight down from Heaven. With songs like "Cold Hand" and "Stardust" I can only express my amazement that they haven't gained more of a following in the U.S. Another wonderful effort! Besides the superb and really funny "Senseless" I love the imagery and insight of "Human Heart". Yet this isn't mere bubblegum as songs like "Destroyer", "Living Dead" and "Bells" weave shadows into the musical tapestry that is this excellent album. Favorite track: Senseless.

about

Sad Day for Puppets were formed in late 2006 in the Stockholm (Sweden) satellite town of Blackeberg, the setting for the creepy vampire book/film “Let The Right One In”. The first band line-up consisted of songwriter Martin Källholm, former guitarist Marcus Sandgren and singer Anna Eklund.

Soon after their first album release in 2008 the band were contacted
by Dan Treacy from Television Personalities through Myspace. In a short time SDFP had toured together with TVPs, done releases in Japan, USA, and Europe including the UK, appointed “radar stars” in NME, “single of the week” by Steve Lamacq(BBC6) and been hand-picked to support MGMT on their Swedish dates. In 2009 “Unknown Colors” was re-released on the UK label, Sonic Cathedral, protégés of London’s “nu-gazing”, and was showered with praise by The Guardian, NME, Uncut and Drowned In Sound among many others.

During the following years, Sad Day for Puppets opened for bands like A
Place to Bury Strangers, Editors, The Raveonettes and The Mystery Jets. After the follow-up album “Pale Silver & Shiny Gold” from 2010, SDFP also did headline tours in the UK and Japan.

At the time “Unknown Colors” and “Pale Silver & Shiny Gold” were released Sad Day for Puppets were performing a shoegaze-inspired indie-rock, mixing catchy melodies with some noisy fuzziness . “Come Closer” is Sad Day For Puppets’ third full-length album and states the band’s departure to a powerful and dreamy indie-pop sound. The simple, but genius melodies by Martin Källholm and the voice of Anna Eklund are the constants.
